The Original Factory Shop announces senior management appointments

The Original Factory Shop (TOFS), the UK’s national discount department store, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dave Williams as chief financial officer and Tim Bettley as commercial director as it progresses with its exciting strategy for growth.

Williams joins TOFS from JD Sports Fashion where he has spent the past three years as group commercial director and was responsible for the turnaround of the outdoor operations of the Group and the commercial oversight of a number of subsidiary operations. Prior to this Williams held CFO positions with JJB, TJ Hughes and Focus Wickes. As CFO at JJB Sports, Williams developed and executed a strategic business plan and implemented a significant turnaround plan. He joins the company on 7 December and will assume responsibility for group accounting, commercial finance and payroll, reporting in to CEO, Tony Page.

In addition, the company can confirm that Bettley will be joining the company on 9 November as commercial director, bringing extensive experience in general merchandise and fashion retail. Formerly, Bettley was commercial director for non-food at Morrisons, where he created their clothing business model. Prior to this, Bettley was managing director at Peacock Group, with responsibility for developing and delivering the brand strategy as it evolved from a traditional discounter to a value for money fashion retailer. Additionally, Bettley has more than a decade of experience in buyer roles at Peacock Group, Poundstretcher and Grattan.

Commenting on the two appointments, Tony Page, CEO of The Original Factory Shop, said: “It is a great pleasure to be welcoming Dave and Tim to our team at The Original Factory Shop.

“Both are fantastic appointments for TOFS and they will bring a great deal to their roles; Dave’s experience as CFO at a wide range of retailers makes him ideally positioned to take on the role at this important time for the Company, and Tim’s strong familiarity with both the fashion and value markets will be a great asset for the business.”

“There is a real buzz throughout the business as we work towards our vision of becoming the nation’s best loved retailer. It’s great to have Dave and Tim on board for this journey as we drive the growth of our business forward.”

Williams said: “This is a great opportunity and an exciting time to be joining the business; TOFS has positioned itself in what is a growing and dynamic sector in retail, and it is well placed to capitalise on the opportunity this presents.

“I am delighted to be a part of shaping the future of the Company and working with Tony and the team to further increase operating profits through improving sales, continued growth in store numbers, and driving operational and cost efficiencies.”

Bettley said: “TOFS occupies a unique space in the UK retail sector, focusing on providing quality products at bargain prices to customers across the nation, whilst maintaining a local community ethos.

“I am looking forward to working with the Company to execute the growth strategy as we continue to offer genuine bargains to our growing base of customers across the UK.”
