Top of the Shops: online health and beauty sales by volume w/e 13/9/12

This week’s online health and beauty sales (by volume) movers & shakers:

Asda: Eight Asda brands populate the retailer’s top 20 health & beauty lines online, unchanged on last week. Half are under the retailer’s Smartprice label. Original Source Show gel is down to £1.00 from £2.20 last week and gets into the basket; as does Sure Men Anti-Perspirant Deoderant, which is down to £1.50 from £2.89 last time.

Boots: Just one Boots own label features this week compared with five a week ago. The basket also includes more premium lines compared to its supermarket rivals. Two Sanctuary products, for example, are included along with a Burt’s Bees Essential Body Kit. Regaine for Men Extra Strength Scalp Foam, priced at £99.90 for six-months’ supply, also wins a top slot.

Ocado: Ocado’s online healthy & beauty basket is dominated by national brands with several baby and infant products in the line up. These include Aptamil Follow on Milk Ready Made and Nivea Sun Kids Pure & Sensitive Spray. Children’s food is popular too and includes Hipp Organic Little Nibbles Apple Elephant Biscuits, Rachel’s Organic Taste Explorers Fruit Yogurt and Jamie Oliver Little Meals Yummy Pollock Fish Pie. Herbal Essences, meanwhile, is the top haircare product for Ocado shoppers this week.

Sainsbury’s: Fewer Sainsbury’s own labels feature in the basket this week – four versus seven last time. Dove and Aquafresh are two brands appearing twice each in the basket; while Equazen Eye Q Omega 3 and 6 is down from £21.60 to £10.80 this week and wins a place in the Sainsbury’s health & beauty basket.

Superdrug: Body and haircare products dominate the Superdrug basket this week. L’Oreal is the leading brand with four lines in the basket, while make up brand Maybelline has two top 20 spots with mascara and foundation. Prices are unchanged on last week.

Tesco: Brands dominate Tesco’s health & beauty online basket with the Tesco own label making just two appearances this week compared with four a week ago. Baby wipes hang on to the stop spot and baby and infant products continue to dominate the line up with Organic Finger Foods included in the mix. Prices are stable on last week.
