Toy company implements SAP solution to improve service

Toy and gift company Jellycat has implemented a SAP application to keep track of stock and improve customer service. The company, which supplies soft toys to retailers all over the world, including some of the top high street names, has invested in SAP Business One, a package designed for small and medium sized enterprises.

Set up 10 years ago, Jellycat has quickly expanded into an international business with offices in London and Minneapolis. According to SAP, the company’s fast growth meant it quickly outgrew its existing systems and it needed a single solution that could integrate and bring together all functions of the business; automate processes and provide business solutions such as financial reporting. The SAP Business One solution was selected because it offered stock control options including the ability to provide real-time stock availability information to the sales team. At the same time it offered analysis tools and a range of other features.

Danny Olive, finance director, Jellycat said: “As a fast growing small business, which also competes on a global scale, we needed a comprehensive, integrated and scalable solution to help us continue our business success. SAP Business One is remarkably easy to use; we are able to design our own bespoke reports and workflow procedures to suit and benefit the particular needs of the business. We initially selected SAP Business One as it exceeded our technology requirements but now realise that it will help us to continue the process of improving business systems and procedures for some time to come.”

According to SAP, Jellycat has realised a number benefits including improved efficiency and accuracy in order capture and stock allocation which has enabled it to offer higher quality customer service.  The company has also been able to simplify and reduce administrative processes and advanced financial reporting tools have enabled the finance team to deliver faster and more insightful financial analysis to management.

Stephen Read, head of SME, SAP UK&I, said: “Jellycat’s growth as a global SME has been swift and considerable, and we are delighted to be able to provide them with the technology to reach the next stage of their business development. We look forward to working with Jellycat going forward and watching the company go from strength to strength. SMEs are always great powerhouses of growth and it is important that they have the right technology in place to enable their expansion, and we will continue to work with our partners, such as SAP Business One specialist CGA Enterprise Solutions, in order to achieve this.”
