Last year Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City broke Christmas records welcoming 15.6m visitors during the Christmas period from the start of November through to Boxing Day. The centres’ busiest festive period on record included a number of firsts across peak trading periods: It was the busiest ever ‘Super Weekend’ (with 1.2m shoppers and including the busiest ever Super Saturday, the final Saturday before Christmas) and brought 350,000 shoppers on Boxing Day.
The centres are expecting another busy festive season where the two London centres are firmly placed in the capital as popular Christmas destinations. Visitors can take advantage of the range of in-centre services including hands-free shopping, gift wrapping, concierge and valet parking at Westfield London. Festive activities includes Westfield London’s first ever Christmas Market in Westfield Square with the second largest tree in London (21st November – 24th December), the return of the Nordic-themed Santa’s Grotto at both centres and Westfield Stratford City’s Christmas Festival on Saturday 16th of November.
Myf Ryan, CMO Europe and group director of brand and strategic marketing for Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, says: “Last year was our busiest Christmas period on record as we welcomed 15.6m visitors through our doors. We saw our best ever ‘Super Weekend’ and our highest footfall Boxing Day on record. Those numbers were testament to the investment we’ve made in putting the customer at the core and creating the very best environment for our visitors and retailers alike. With our high footfall figures, every Christmas we attract a number of new retailers and deliver exciting experiences, offering something different for our customers.”
