Value retailer, B&M, launches Christmas range in summer and sees soaring sales


Discount retailer B&M is experiencing soaring sales on their Christmas range after launching the products in stores across the country during summer.

The value retailer, which has more than 500 stores nationwide, made the decision to launch their Christmas range on 30th August. Even though temperatures were reaching highs of 24 degrees and the UK was in summer holiday mode.

However, the weather hasn’t deterred festive fanatical brits. Sales of Christmas room decorations have soared by 130% YOY and customers are already stocking up on their tree decorations, with sales jumping up 105%.

The best sellers so far this year include beautiful frosted candle jars, a range of traditional nutcracker men and Woodland Santa figures.

The Christmas crafts category alone has shot up more than 130% from last year as customers are making purchases on the little touches and extra thoughtful products that will make Christmas magical for their family. Such as, a Letter from Santa – which comes with an ‘I’ve been good’ certificate.

B&M have already devoted the first tab on its site ( to Christmas shopping and within three days of launching the section they’d already racked up more than 23,000 visits.

The sales so far have revealed that the Geordies are in fact the most festive people in the UK, in comparison to the Mancunians who look to be the least prepared for Christmas.

B&M’s Christmas buyer said: “It may seem a little premature but savvy shoppers are keen to get their Christmas purchases in early so that they can spread the cost.”
