Europe’s leading natural and organic business event, Natural & Organic Products Europe has launched a world-class speaker programme – which will include insights to help retailers recover, adapt, and thrive after the global pandemic.
For many industries, the pandemic has had an unexpected impact on businesses. As we approach a ‘post-pandemic’ world, strategic resilience and crisis management is vital for economic recovery. In light of this, the content on offer at this two-day event will be invaluable to members of the trade.
Natural & Organic Products Europe/NOPEX returns to ExCeL London on 3-4 April with sessions from Soil Association, Planet Organic, BioCare, Natural Products News, The CTPA (Cosmetic, Toiletry & Perfume Association), The Vegan Society and more – revealing consumer research, tools, and tactics on how to capitalise on new opportunities in the sector, despite a challenging few years.
Supporting health during a pandemic
Health stores have played an important part throughout the pandemic – supporting communities with advice, healthy food and immunity products. Chris Newbold, Head of Nutrition Strategy at Biocare will look at how both the world and customers’ health issues have changed, how we can meet the new challenges and also support people with nutritional solutions for immunity, long covid, mental health and energy. Plus, how health stores can help people move forward and what are key supplements to stock.
Dr Marilyn Glenville will touch upon a different kind of pandemic – the ‘silent pandemic’ of type 2 diabetes – and how missed diagnoses throughout the covid pandemic has caused a worldwide crisis. This talk will highlight how lifestyle and diet have a huge part to play in both prevention and treatment.
Expert speakers from Viridian (one of the leading names in ethical nutrition and beauty) will host two health talks. Phil Beard, Technical Educator at Viridian will provide visitors with the latest evidence around magnesium and its true potential. And Dr Jenny Goodman will discuss how nutrition can be used combat the effects of pollution on the body.
The Post Pandemic Market
Shopping habits changed dramatically over 2021, and now everyone is looking ahead to which changes are here to stay; notably, the strength of online, ‘direct to consumer’, and growing sales for independent shops and organic brands.
Alison Muirhead, Business Development Manager at Soil Association will facilitate a panel (with Al Overton, Buying Director at Planet Organic; Vijairahul Janakiraman, Founder of Vedic Essentials; and Steph Norman, Founder of Norlo Coffee) revealing post-pandemic insights from the Soil Association’s 2022 Organic Market Report. Visitors will hear from businesses that have evolved through the pandemic by developing strong consumer channels and will provide their tips on how to develop online.
The Vegan Society will also reveal details from their covid-19 Pandemic Report. In this talk, attendees will get an exclusive, in-depth look at ‘Wave Two’ of the research, a month before it is released to the public.
The UK cosmetics and beauty industry has also faced a challenging few years shaped by the covid crisis, while also coping with new UK laws following Brexit. Over in the Natural Beauty TALKS Theatre, Dr Emma Meredith, Director General, Cosmetic, Toiletry & Perfume Association (CTPA) will cover the new UK regulatory framework for all cosmetic products (the UK Cosmetics Regulation: Schedule 34 of the Product Safety and Metrology Statutory Instrument) and their ingredients (UK REACH), and how businesses are adapting to the new requirements.
