WD-40 Company is extremely proud to announce it has officially joined forces with The Captain Tom Foundation, which aims to combat loneliness, and champion education and equality.
Based nearby to Captain Sir Tom’s hometown, Bedford, WD-40 Company located in Milton Keynes, proudly shares the same core values as the charity in ‘making it better than it is today’ and has committed to raise vital funds, with a target of £30,000 and a £20,000 additional company donation.
With dedicated internal staff events over the coming months to help reach the target goal, the WD-40 Company team has already kick started its efforts with a walking challenge drawing inspiration from Captain Sir Tom’s infamous garden laps.
48 trekkers travelled a total of 7710.13km (the same length as over 37.7 million WD-40 Multi-Use Flexible Straws), with the top performing traveller completing a huge 400km worth of distance, and another five marching over 300km each. To date, WD-40 Company’s dedicated walkers have managed to raise over £7,710.
Bill Noble, WD-40 Company’s managing director, comments: “We’re honoured to partner with The Captain Tom Foundation. Captain Sir Tom is a huge inspiration to millions in the UK and beyond, so we are privileged to continue his legacy through our fundraising efforts”.
“We, at WD-40 Company, share common values with the Foundation, and like them, we are extremely committed to giving hope, spreading positivity and ensuring ‘tomorrow is a good day’. We thank them for choosing to partner with us which is even more poignant being local to one another.”
Upcoming fundraising activities at WD-40 Company include cooking contests, a sponsored book club, a cycling challenge – and more. WD-40 Company is also looking to help their staff contribute a collective 100 hours of volunteering time to support local organisations including The Captain Tom Foundation.
Hannah Ingram-Moore, Captain Sir Tom’s daughter and Co-founder of The Captain Tom Foundation, comments: “It was wonderful to make the connection between the Captain Tom Foundation and WD-40 Company, with so many synergies around our values. My Father always had a trusted can of WD-40 Product to hand. We look forward to our continued relationship.”
