Zappar, a leader in augmented reality experiences and Momentum Worldwide announces a new type of brand experience for snack brand Mars with supermarket giant Asda. Shoppers will have the chance to win one of five signed England football shirts by playing the in-store augmented reality game, “Be A Penalty Shoot Out Hero”.

With the free to download Zappar app, shoppers could use their smartphone or tablet on Saturday 27 June 2015 in selected Asda stores between 10am and 4pm to beat the goalie from the penalty spot and enter the competition. When players have finished playing, participants will be able to see their best score on a Top Gear style leader board in-store and can enter into the draw for a chance to win a signed shirt. In addition to the penalty shoot out, shoppers will be able to pose for a picture with the winner’s trophy to share on social media.

Previous campaigns across Asda stores with Zappar have seen 151,780 “zaps” from 67,073 shoppers with a combined interaction of over 128 days-worth of time, demonstrating the value that added in-store engagement can bring to both shoppers and brands.

Max Dawes, partnerships director at Zappar, said: “It’s great for us to be able to work with Asda again and to show how AR can be used to create stand out activity for brands in a busy retail environment. Having the opportunity to partner with Momentum Worldwide to create something bespoke for Mars© was a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate how big brands can use AR to really add value and engage with consumers in-store. ”

Bep Dhaliwal, trade communications manager at Mars Chocolate UK, said: “It’s no longer just enough to put your brand on a shelf in the hope that your packaging stands out more than competitors. Mars© prides itself in creating engaging campaigns for consumers and now we’re extending that to in-store activity using the latest and greatest technology.”
